About this event

Body

On Saturday, August 16, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, former Clarksburg Mayor and community leader Jim Hunt will present "Moving to the New Facility and How it Was Accomplished," a look back at the historic transition to the library’s current location in 1975.

This memorable event will highlight the contributions of the West Virginia National Guard, whose members were assigned to move all books and materials into the new library facility nearly five decades ago. Attendees will hear first-hand accounts from those who were part of the operation, shedding light on this remarkable chapter in the library’s history.

Held in the first floor reading area of the Clarksburg-Harrison Public Library, this program is part of a series of events leading up to the library’s 50th birthday on December 9, 2025.

This event is free and open to the public, and is proudly sponsored by the Friends of Clarksburg-Harrison Public Library.
